My approach
I like using a structured eclectic approach and individualizing my approach with each client depending on their needs. The most common theoretical approach is cognitive and behavioral.
My focus
I work with all clients that feel ready to make changes and focus on particular goals. I provide the utmost respect and unbiased environment to ensure a safe space for my clients.
My communication style
I use a very calm tone to ensure a safe environment for all my clients. Depending on the circumstance, I implement various grounding exercises to help clients de-escalate.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was instantly attracted to the field of psychology and becoming a therapist as my mother struggled with anxiety and depression when I was young. I noticed the silent pain she endured for many years until she accepted help. Coming from a culture that didn't believe in mental health and created a taboo around the subject, I decided to break the cycle and work with individuals that come from similar backgrounds. I take pride in the guidance I provided for each individual. I have experience working in community mental health and educational settings, particularly within underserved communities and diverse populations.
My goals for you
I like to ask my clients what their goal is for therapy and allow them to elaborate to make it a specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goal to document on their individual treatment plan. This allows us to measure progress along the way.
My first session with you
During the first session, I work on building therapeutic rapport with my new client as it helps them feel more comfortable to open up. I usually provide a structured breakdown of what to expect in therapy and encourage you to always ask questions or voice concerns. Therapy is a safe space and I would like to always maintain that standard.
