Hello! My name is Corrine, and I’ve worked in the mental health field for over a decade. I began my career working with children with autism, but I soon realized that my heart was drawn more toward helping the parents, families, and support systems of these children and all children. This is why my practice now focuses on teenagers and adults, as I believe that if we can help mothers, fathers, older siblings, teachers, healthcare providers, etc., to thrive, then the children in their lives will be positively impacted. When one of us begins our healing journey, not only do we succeed, but usually, many people in our life benefit as well. This is how I believe my work can impact the world in a small but positive way. I look forward to getting to know you and assisting you on your journey to growth and well-being.
My approach
Therapy with me is client-centered. You are in the driver's seat, and I assist by asking questions and providing tools for the journey. My main modalities are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I also utilize concepts from Health at Every Size, Intuitive Eating, and Emotionally Healthy Spirituality.
My focus
My ideal client is one who is motivated and ready to look into themselves and find their greatness. I believe that engaging in therapy is a show of courage and strength because society in general fears being vulnerable. I am honored to work with individuals of all races, ethnicities, abilities, sexual orientations, and religious faiths. I’m a very spiritual person, and I feel comfortable discussing spiritual matters with my clients if they would like to. I am most familiar with Christianity as that is my faith, but I enjoy working with clients of other faiths as well; they usually provide me with knowledge about their religion, then we work together to help them on their unique spiritual path.
My communication style
I enjoy getting to know the client and communicating in a way that helps them feel both comfortable yet challenged. I balance listening and giving feedback based on what the client needs. Feel free to let me know if you would like more listening from me or if you would like me to give more feedback in your sessions.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey started in high school, with my AP US History and Psychology teacher, Ms. Calbi. She inspired me to go into this field and since then, I have been blessed with the privilege of obtaining an education in psychology (both scientific research and clinical psychotherapy).
My goals for you
Successful care is when the client digs deep to identify the emotional/mental barriers to their self-love and does the work to eliminate those barriers and begin practicing self-love and compassion. With the ability to love oneself and have compassion for oneself, the individual can then engage in the world as their true authentic self.
My first session with you
I like to get through the intake questions while also having enough time to get to know each other a little bit. I make sure to ask you what your main goals for therapy are and help you brainstorm some if you're not sure. I also make sure to discuss any safety issues that could be present.
