Hi there, I'm Maria!

Hello there. Thanks for stopping here. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 16 years of experience. My approach utilizes an eclectic, client-centered approach tailored to address your needs for healing. My passion is to help you make sense of your situations. I'm committed to helping you understand yourself. My hope is that we will connect so that you reduce your stress, feel more empowered, and find balance and life satisfaction. I will help you communicate better, enhance coping skills, reduce stress, and focus on reducing symptoms by minimizing problematic behaviors and decreasing reactivity. Together, the goals are for you to feel less overwhelmed, feel more in control, get to know yourself, reduce fears, increase your positive self, and be more connected with yourself and others.

My approach

While psychotherapy is a collaborative process, that process is often unique and different for each person. Movement for your mental health and well-being is worth it. It is very important and helpful to know that each person's journey to healing is different because each person deserves to be in control of their own time, energy, and effort so that they have the opportunity to understand themselves: your experiences-(past and present), your thoughts, your feelings, your fears, your strengths, your relationships, your goals, your needs, your joys, and what makes you happy.

My focus

I have experienced working with a diverse group of individuals, so all are welcome. I want to use my skills, experiences, knowledge, and training to continue getting to know and serve the diverse individuals who pursue self-growth, progress towards healthy well-being, and desire to get to know themselves for improved mental health.

My communication style

When we meet together, you will meet someone who is unbiased, caring, patient, nurturing, and non-judging and who will listen to you about what is going on in your life. You will see a trained, compassionate, understanding, open, empathetic professional who will be honest with you to help determine patterns-both good and bad to help you move forward and learn about yourself. I'm a therapist that wants you to see yourself from the inside and outside with vulnerability and compassion. When it is over, you will learn to move with resiliency and strength, experience a growth process and have learned to use healthier strategies for a more rewarding life with optimism, hope, purpose, kindness, learning mindset, and be part of meaningful bonds.

My journey to mental healthcare

What drew me to therapy was the desire to help others and get connected with others. As a therapist, I get to be part of someone's healing and growth process, which is a privilege and inspiring to see individuals being vulnerable and getting to their best selves.

My goals for you

My goal is for you to understand yourself, the dynamic person that you are-the healthy and complicated parts of you. By getting to know all of you, you are able to manage your stress, your symptoms, your behaviors, and your relationships. So you get to where you want to be; do more of what you like, be happier, more content, the person that you deserve to be. The goal is for you to continue to commit to your well-being and recognize your value, strengths, and meaning in life.

My first session with you

The first session is a get-to-know session that is a safe, private, and confidential space for you. You will share with me, "What brings you to therapy?" I'll start getting to know you by gaining important and significant information from you. Likewise, you are open and welcome to get to know me. We will get a chance to connect and identify your goals. The first session will also help us make a decision if therapy is something we can do together. Therapy is about you and for you.
