I am a California-licensed psychologist with over four decades of experience. I specialize in anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and relationship issues. Most of my work is with couples and I have had extensive education, training, and experience. To date, I have worked with over a thousand couples.
My approach
My work with couples has been informed by extensive training in the Gottman method, Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy, the Developmental Model of Ellyn Bader, and Terry Real's Relational Life Therapy. Additionally, I have developed my own model which I call Mindful Choices Therapy. I have taught marital therapy in couples therapy in a major university for many years and I have written two books on couples.
My focus
My work is with relationships that I work with couples, individuals, all ethnicities and cultures, and couples gay and straight. I work with premarital counseling, infidelity, divorce prevention, and couples who simply want more satisfaction in their relationship.
My communication style
My clients find me supportive, empathic, and highly skilled in bringing about positive change. I have a proven track record that spans over four decades.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a licensed psychologist in California in 1977. I am passionate about my work, and I am married to a therapist who shares my enthusiasm.
My goals for you
Goalsetting begins in the first session and is modified as needed. As clients develop new insights and experience positive change, goals are redefined.
My first session with you
The first session consists of information gathering and the beginning of goal-setting.
