Hi - My name is Michelle Eynon, and I have been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for more than 20 years. My work has been with individuals, families, and couples, and I also have extensive experience working with teenagers within the public school system.
My approach
I work with each individual client to determine the best therapeutic approach for their unique personality and needs. The most common theoretical approaches I use are Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychodynamic Therapy.
My focus
In my 20-plus years of work as a Marriage and Family Therapist, I have worked extensively with teenagers, parents, and families, as well as individual adults and couples. Common presenting problems include anxiety, depression, school avoidance, trauma, low self-esteem, relationship issues, and interpersonal conflict.
My communication style
To me, my most important role is to build trust and rapport between myself and my clients. I achieve this by actively listening, refraining from judgment, and treating all others with respect. I am a fairly "laid-back" person and believe that therapy should ultimately be a positive experience.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have worked in other fields, but I have always felt most fulfilled by work that serves to help others. I have a lot of compassion. Making a good connection with a client and helping them achieve critical insights and make progress toward their goals is very rewarding, and I believe it is the work that I am meant to do.
My goals for you
I work with each individual client to determine their goals. This often changes over time, and sometimes the client's stated "presenting problem" is just the jumping-off point. I am regularly checking in with my clients to evaluate their goals, needs, and desired outcome from therapy.
My first session with you
A first session is a great opportunity for me to get to know a client and for them to get to know me. Having a good connection and feeling comfortable with your therapist is critical for therapy to work. A first session is a great opportunity to explore values, styles, and personalities and determine if they are a good fit.
