Hi there, I'm Ellen!

Ellen Golding is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist my practice is guided by all people who possess intrinsic worth and have the capacity to realize this. All individuals are worthy of respect. I strive to cultivate a therapy space that is safe for all genders, races, cultures, family constellations, and relationships. I believe fundamentally in the values of a good therapeutic fit. I seek to purposefully select a therapy, or therapies, which best suit you, your situation, and your beliefs about personal change. specializing in mindfulness approach, solution-focused therapy, and understanding its impact on Relationships, Depression, Anxiety, Adjustment issues, Grief and Substance Abuse/recovery behavioral concerns with children and adolescents, and interpersonal aware.

My approach

I utilize a collaborative, strengths-based approach. My theoretical orientation is integrative, I seek to purposefully select a therapy, or therapies, which best suit you, your situation, and your beliefs about personal change. I am also passionate about the role of context: understanding you as a person and the world that you live in is critical in charting a meaningful course in therapy.

My focus

I believe fundamentally in the value of a good therapeutic fit in counseling clients as counselors are diverse - there is no one-size-fits-all here. A brief conversation with you, before starting counseling, is an important first step in helping to ensure that we are the right match. Further, I believe that people function best when there is harmony between body, mind, social situations, and life. The dedication, respect, safety, and expertise I received shaped therapeutic and creative restoration for those in search of healing for their lives. I am here to help you find your way to your healed and thriving life.

My communication style

Warm, accepting, inclusive, and practical best describes my personal therapeutic style. Additionally, I place a high value on careful listening, empathy, professional ethics, and accountability.

My journey to mental healthcare

Becoming a therapist combines both my personal and professional experiences. I believe that all individuals can embrace who they are, can define their future, and can change the course of their life. My search for a resolution for the earlier trauma I had faced was realized in adulthood, found through deep and caring therapeutic work. The dedication respect, safety, and expertise I received shape my vision for the patient I work with and in bringing therapeutic and restoration to those in search of their lives.

My goals for you

I am passionate about the role of context: understanding you as a person and the world that you live in is critical in charting a course in therapy. For many, therapy feels incomplete when the focus of sessions is purely issues going on in the here and now, part of this journey typically involves learning more about the client's background and family history. My observation is that past events often have a direct bearing on what is happening in the present time, and it is this intersecting of past and present which can be a flashpoint for insight and behavior changes. The client and the therapist working collaboratively also contributes to treatment success.

My first session with you

I believe fundamentally in the value of a good therapeutic fit. Understanding comes first. If we jump prematurely into tools and strategies clients are left with generic, interventions. My approach is motivated by listening to who you are and what you identify as important. My practice is guided by the following principles: I utilize a collaborative, strengths-based approach, and clients take responsibility for their gains in therapy and or their personal success. Understanding comes first. If we jump prematurely into tools and strategies clients are left with generic, interventions. My approach is motivated by listening to who you are and what you identify as important.
