Hi there, I'm Cathy!

I’m a Christian Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Clinical Psychiatric R.N. I received a B.S. in Nursing, an M.P.H., and M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Loma Linda University. I’ve spent most of my professional years working in inpatient mental health, dealing with patients of many age groups with a full range of mental diagnoses, including perinatal mood disorders, and alcohol and drug addiction. I see every person as a precious creation of God and of great worth. For this reason, I feel passionate about being able to walk alongside them in their journey toward healing and wholeness. Often, they feel overwhelmed and anxious, as if there is no way out of their struggle. This way of thinking often comes from guilt and how they feel the world sees them. I like to share with them the valid reason they were created, how God sees them, and how they can realign their negative thoughts and interpretations to allow them to find joy in life and focus positively on their future. I want to help them understand the overall picture of what is necessary for a healthy mind, body, and spirit, so they can develop their God-given potential. I always begin by considering the client’s place in life, their perceived stumbling blocks, and the core issues holding them back. I also believe in helping them identify their strengths so they can use these to build resilience in the face of future adversity. Focusing on these strengths can be favorable for clients, especially when they learn to view them as God-given gifts. This mindset can help them get through whatever issues they may face.
