Hello, my name is Terri Edwards, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over twenty years of experience in the Southern California area providing mental health services to individuals, couples, and families to support optimal interpersonal relationships. My focus areas of practice are anxiety, trauma, grief, relationships, and families. I have worked in Community Mental Health Clinics, School-Based settings, and Residential treatment facilities. I am a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and have had the opportunity to provide therapy to veterans and their families. I have collaborated with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, Probation, and Department of Children and Family Services while working in roles as a Community Therapist, Clinical Supervisor, Program Manager, and Director in Community Mental Health Programs in the County of Los Angeles.
My approach
My approach to therapy is eclectic. I have certifications in Drug and Alcohol Counseling, Drug and Alcohol Studies, Traumatic Grief, and multiple Evidence-Based practices including Seeking Safety, Trauma-Focused CBT, Child-Parent Psychotherapy, and Triple-P (Positive Parenting Program). I am a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT). I believe in meeting people where they are at in their life journey and assisting them to get where they want to be by building on their strengths and attaining personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
My focus
My focus areas of practice are anxiety, trauma, grief, relationships, and families.
My communication style
I work collaboratively with clients, am open to learning from clients, and believe that all solutions lie within my clients because they know themselves best. My approach is warm and inviting, calm and inquisitive, respectful and encouraging.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always enjoyed from a young age engaging with others. As I was progressing in my education, I decided to pursue a career in Mental Health based on my natural inclination to interact with others and a desire to see others live life at their best potential. I graduated with a B.A. degree in Behavioral Science from National University and went on to graduate with an M.A. degree in Counseling Psychology, also from National University.
My goals for you
My approach to setting goals with clients is through collaboration. Working together as a team, we determine what goals you want to achieve and how they can be achieved.
