I am a Licensed Clinical social worker with a master's degree from the University of Southern California in Social work. I am proudly born and raised in Inglewood, California. I have been in the mental health field for the past 8 years and counting! My experience ranges from, but not limited to field-based mental health, outpatient, hospice, psychiatric inpatient hospital setting, group homes, and currently private practice. I have my own experience with therapy and being on the other side of the couch! I believe that If I am going to be a therapist, I have to certainly know what it feels like to be a client, and well we all need some support! I have overcome many things in life, but the greatest healing came from being able to support others.
My approach
My diverse, universal approach to treatment allows me to create a safe, fun, and supportive environment while challenging my clients. I am straightforward while being mindful of where my client is at in the present moment. I focus on understanding your beliefs, customs, and values. My unique approach allows me to tailor treatment to my clients' needs.
My focus
This question is always difficult, as I do not like putting myself in a box. I feel and believe successful therapy has a lot to do with the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. I do think that when starting therapy, a client has to be ready to at least hear a new perspective so openness is important, even if you want to resist. The effort is important for therapists on both ends.
My communication style
I like to say my style of communication is fun, light-hearted, and energetic but also understanding and connecting to the tone of my client and the session. I try and cultivate the safest, calmest environment in our sessions.
