My name is Erika Tovar I am a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals, families, and children in a variety of settings specializing in stress, life transitions, anxiety, and women-related issues using a strength-based and cognitive behavioral therapy approach.
My approach
My approach to therapy is to create a safe, non-judgmental space, and meet clients where they are. I commonly use a strength-based approach and cognitive behavioral therapy as these modalities help in creating an individual plan with goals to help clients in managing difficult emotions and begin regaining control of their life.
My focus
My practice specializes in anxiety, depression, trauma, and working with individuals who are experiencing distress dealing with life transitions, and mothers who are balancing life and motherhood.
My communication style
I have been told that one of my greatest strengths is my personable skills, I take great pride in creating a comfortable space to where my clients can feel heard and understood without judgment. My communication is gentle, kind, and accommodating to each client's needs.
My journey to mental healthcare
Growing up, I found myself always being the person who people came to for comfort and support. Through this, I realized that I had the compassion and ability to support others through crises, hard times, and happy moments in their lives which lead me to become a therapist. I am passionate about helping others reach goals and thrive.
My goals for you
My approach is to make you feel comfortable and build trust. We will work together to define your goals and create a treatment plan that best fits your needs. I find great joy in seeing my clients feel safe, grow confident, gather the tools needed to accomplish goals, and heal from past traumas.
My first session with you
In the first session we will spend time getting to know each other, I will gather information to help me understand what has brought you to therapy, past history, stressors, etc. The first session is about getting a better understanding of what has been going on, building a connection, and developing goals together.
