Hello and welcome; I am John Casey, LCSW. I have over 6 years of experience seeing patients from many different walks of life. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy to get answers and to assist with getting answers for you.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is to meet each person where they are in life presently. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing are the two primary approaches that I use with patients.
My focus
I work with anyone over the age of 18, and I have seen many patients who suffer from depression, anxiety, anger, work issues, men's issues, communication issues, and stress.
My communication style
My style is assertive, and I create an environment of safety and non-judgment. Patients can share whatever they want and get feedback if they choose to.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to becoming a therapist started as a child when I had a therapist and received services from a mental health professional. I became a social worker for Los Angeles County DCFS, they I worked to earn my MSW. Then I worked on my licensure until I achieved my goal.
My goals for you
I ask the client what they would like to achieve in therapy, and after I complete the biopsychosocial assessment, I am able to give some recommendations for goals at that point.
My first session with you
The first session focuses on introductions and building rapport. Questions and sharing of backgrounds, along with the beginning of the assessment process, happen in the first session.
