I love helping people become their best selves. Many mental health problems stem from childhood trauma, and I think it is important for individuals to understand the roots of their anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or addiction.
My approach
I believe that people can overcome these problems by understanding the connection between their thoughts, moods, and behaviors. This understanding can empower them to change negative thinking patterns that keep them stuck in the past and in self-defeating behaviors. I use Cognitive Behavioral interventions to help change these negative thinking patterns. I also use art therapy, solution-focused, and mindfulness-based approaches to help clients explore trauma and underlying issues, create solutions to their problems, and learn to live in the here and now.
My focus
I am willing to see individuals and minors (ages 13-17). My specialties include addiction, alcohol use, anxiety, chronic relapse, coping skills, drug abuse, dual diagnosis, emotional disturbance, life coaching, life transitions, self esteem, mood disorders, older adults, panic attacks, relapse prevention, relationship issues, spirituality, stress, and women's issues.
My communication style
I communicate in a supportive, empowering way. My style combines directness and compassion - I ask thought-provoking questions to help you gain new insights, while providing a safe space to process difficult issues. Through our conversations, I aim to help you understand yourself better and find solutions that resonate with your values and goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a counselor later in life, so I strongly believe in the adage "It's never too late to become the person you were meant to be." From 07/2017 - 01/22/2021, I received clinical supervision from Dr. Charles E. Smith at Aegis Treatment Centers in Atascadero, CA. From 11/2018 - 06/2019, I was clinically supervised by Patricia Narez, LCSW at the same location.
My goals for you
I want to help my clients become their best selves and the person they were meant to be.
