James Husen

Hi, my name is James "Jim" Husen. I am a Psychologist. My approach to therapy is to first do no harm, then help the client with his/her symptoms and figure out the root or source of those problems and help the client with that too--give a person a fish, the family eats for a day, teach a person to fish, the family eats for a lifetime and beyond when the children are taught to fish as well.

My approach

First, provide an atmosphere of unconditional, positive regard without judgment. Then, learn and understand the problem. Then figure out strategies to reduce the symptoms. Finally, figure out what it is that is causing the symptoms and address that with the client.

My focus

I work with children, adolescents, and adults. I am comfortable with people at all stages of the life span. I also provide divorce and parent coaching / therapy.

My communication style

I try to create a collaborative and kind environment for the client. Ultimately trust is foundational to communication and communication is key to unlocking solutions for the client.

My journey to mental healthcare

I was in the service working as an engineering laboratory technician. Later, I worked 20+ years as a family law attorney. Along the way I became a therapist and now a psychologist. I like solving problems and helping clients solve problems. It is very satisfying when I have been of service and use to the client.

My goals for you

Once we figure out a goal, I and the client break them down into bite sized chunks. This way the client is able to make progress, feel motivated, and step by step reach their goals.
