Hi there, I'm Lauren!

Hello, my name is Lauren; I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I work with teenagers and adults, focusing on their goals and strengths and helping them make meaningful changes that will improve their lives. I specialize in Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, ADHD, self-esteem/body image, and general life, family, school/work, and relationship issues. Lauren McCardell Malone, LMFT 139403

My approach

I am a client-centered therapist who will meet my clients where they are in life and work with them at their pace. I combine a variety of theoretical approaches, including CBT, solutions-focused, mindfulness, psychodynamic, family systems, and trauma-based therapy. Each client will get a different approach based on their needs and personal comfort.

My focus

I typically work with clients ages 15-40 years of age of all cultural and socioeconomic statuses. I have worked with members of the queer and LGBTQ+ community, as well as those who are non-gender-conforming. I support people from all walks of life and respect each person's unique differences. I have experience working with Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, ADHD, self-esteem/body image, high-functioning autism, and general life, family, school/work, and relationship issues.

My communication style

I do my best to create a safe place for my clients to identify and express their authentic selves. I want my clients to know they are always in charge of their treatment, and I will tailor their therapy experience to their wants and needs. I am direct and honest, and casual in the way I communicate.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have always had a love for people and a desire to improve our communities in any way I can. My ultimate goal is to help clients identify and work through difficult life events in order to prevent lifelong mental health difficulties. My hope is that as mental health becomes more accepted in our society and emotional expression less stigmatized, we can begin to lessen the deeply embedded depression, Trauma, and anxiety we see passed down from generation to generation.

My goals for you

My clients take the lead and choose the goals they believe best fit their needs. I will support my clients in conceptualizing and achieving those goals, from problem-solving, considering pros and cons, and foreseeing potential consequences, to keeping my clients accountable to themselves.

My first session with you

The first session is meant for the client and me to get to know one another and to determine if we will be a good fit to work together. I'm here to ensure my clients have the experience they want with the therapist they want, whether or not that's me. I will always be open, direct, and honest throughout our relationship. I will explain the therapeutic process and go over privacy, confidentiality, and payments/insurance.
