Hello, my name is Stacey. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Bakersfield, California. I am passionate about my work and providing an opportunity to help individuals and families cope with life's challenges and work towards healing and creating a life worth living.
My approach
I use a variety of approaches, tailored to the needs and preferences of my clients. I use a variety of approaches including Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and the Trauma Resiliency Model.
My focus
I work well with children, adolescents, and young adults; however, I have the ability to engage with and work with any age group. I also have the ability to engage with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities.
My communication style
I am warm, friendly and non-directive, and non-judgemental, especially while building rapport. It is important to create a safe space for my clients and hold that space for them so they can begin the healing process.
My journey to mental healthcare
I entered the field of social work in 2000, working for my local county child welfare agency. After 11 years and a master's degree, I decided that I could do more work as a therapist in helping others. I live my life with a compassionate heart and work toward the betterment of all humankind. I enjoy watching others grow and thrive as we work together to help them heal.
My goals for you
I work with my clients on goal setting in a collaborative manner and focus on what my clients want to work on and what is most important to them. It is important to start where the client is and what brought them to therapy and trust that they know what is best for them.
My first session with you
During my initial sessions, I discuss confidentiality and provide information on what therapy is and is not. For the remainder of the session use open-ended questions about how the client is feeling and what brought them to therapy in the first place. I like to listen more and will only ask questions for clarification and summarizing to ensure that I understand my client.
