My approach
I like to use a strength-based approach to allow identifying of strengths of the client to draw from when advancing into sessions. My main approach is cognitive behavioral therapy.
My focus
I work with clients struggling with various forms of anxiety, managing stress, trauma, depression, social and specific phobias, relationships, transitions, self-esteem concerns, life transitions, brief crisis intervention and PTSD.
My communication style
I provide a supportive and creative environment. I create a safe space to allow for vulnerability, transparency, healing and growth. I prefer to let the client guide and set the tone for their individual session when appropriate. I provide a team approach and sessions will feel like teaming, goal planning, creative, safe space for lifelong change.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have over 32 years of working with the public and over 22 years directly in the social work field. I believe in happiness and love for all mankind. I understand the challenges in society and managing daily struggles. I believe everyone at some time in life will need help from someone. I see therapy as one of the best places to turn to for help. Having a safe non judgemental space to talk and work through your problems and challenges is invaluable. My hope is that I can help provide valuable psycho-education, teach coping skills that help to improve the lives of others and end services with lifelong skills to maintain a good balance moving forward.
My goals for you
Goals are developed based on the assessment needs of the client. The client ultimately develops their goals with my guidance and having a clear understanding of their needs.
My first session with you
They should expect to complete an intake assessment and be provided with information about therapy. I will ask what bought them to seek therapy and what their expectations are of the therapist.
