Hi, my name is Ronald Cummings. I have been doing therapy for around a decade now. Before this, I also worked at a sober living home, a detox, and as a public school teacher for middle school. I see my clients as able to fix the situation they are in and a vital part of the therapeutic process.
My approach
I tend to approach therapy with a CBT approach first to change negative thinking, then use Solution Focused Therapy to help with problems you are facing, and then let you, the client, lead through Person-Centered Therapy.
My focus
I like to work with a variety of clients and with a variety of mental health issues. I do have a background in dealing with anxiety from personal experience as well.
My communication style
I am pretty laid back and calm, which is helpful with clients who are anxious. I try to reflect on what you say to me as well as add additional psychological facts to help validate what we are doing.
My journey to mental healthcare
After going to a CBT therapist for panic disorder with agoraphobia, I recovered and returned to college to become a therapist myself. I realize there are not enough people in the field to care for those with needs, so I decided to become a part of the solution.
My goals for you
The therapeutic goals will be determined by your collaboration between me and you. I am here to help you meet your goals.
My first session with you
In the first session, I will be conducting an assessment to understand important facts about you better. I will also find out what your goal in counseling is and the levels of anxiety and depression you are experiencing.
