Hi there, I'm Hazel!

As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in California, I bring 15+ years of experience in counseling individuals and family members of all ages 2 – 103 with various ethnic, gender, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds. I have provided mental health counseling services in various settings – K-12 schools, colleges/universities, non-profit/for-profit, in-home/residential settings, and in private practice, both on and offline in English & Vietnamese. I have treated a diverse population, with a wide array of clients, diagnosed with Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, ASD/Developmental Disorders, Gambling Addiction, Eating Disorders, Grief/Loss, Bipolar Disorder, Relationship Issues, School/Work Issues, and Traumas. Congruence, unconditional positive regard, and accurate empathic understanding are the three characteristics, or attributes, of the therapist which form the core part of the therapeutic relationship according to Rogerian therapy. This implies that the therapist is real and/or genuine, actually cares for each client, and is able to sense the client’s feelings as if they were the therapist’s own. I draw from many theoretical orientations, but mainly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Solution Focused (SFT), and Narrative Therapy (NT) to equip you with skills that you will find helpful for years to come.
