Not currently accepting patients

Hi there, I'm Anabel!

I have a growth mindset and have been a consumer of therapy myself for different seasons of my life. As I have gained experience, I believe that creating SAFETY is key to having a great therapeutic relationship! My approach is compassion-focused, person-centered, supportive, and strength-based as the foundation with a mixture of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. My job is to provide a safe place where you can unpack the pain, hurt, and wounds that have been keeping you stuck for years and walk through them and gain freedom, joy, peace, and increased love for yourself and others.

My approach

My approach is compassion-focused, person-centered, supportive, and strength-based as the foundation with a mixture of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I specialize in depression and anxiety. I also have experience working with clients in transitions in life, career changes, parenting, and increasing self-confidence.

My focus

I have the ability to make my clients feel safe, valued, appreciated, and welcomed. This sets up the stage for honesty which is a must for true change. It is hard to be honest with ourselves at times and admit certain things that we have kept hidden for so long for the fear of being judged or being judged by others and ourselves. Honestly, besides all this, I truly care about you as an individual and person. I love my job and how it impacts your life and you also impact mine in many different ways!

My communication style

I have warm, open, transparent, patient, and kind communication with my clients. My clients often tell me I am calm and patient with them. I also get excited with the wins my clients make week by week. I allow myself to feel the pain my client feels, and this is something that I am able to hold and be present with my client at that moment.

My journey to mental healthcare

I knew I wanted to be a counselor since I was in high school. I was the one who was the peacemaker in my family. In my high school yearbook, I knew I wanted to be a social worker. I graduated with my Master's in Social Work and began working in 2009 at a medical clinic providing clinical counseling for 5 years. I then began working in a hospital setting where I learned crisis management in real-time as well as working with multiple family dynamics, grief, homelessness, disease management, suicidality, and panic attacks, and increased communication skills by collaborating with a team. After eight years of hospital work, it was time for me to move on to my own private practice. I did begin while I was working at the hospital. I have fully transitioned to doing telehealth work to help with my work & life balance as I am a mother of two elementary school kids.

My goals for you

Honestly, the goal I have for clients is to help them achieve their own. Usually, they look like becoming more confident, reducing the symptoms that are causing them pain, heartache, and stress. It is to learn new coping skills. To help them increase their growth mindset. To identify their feelings and thoughts and work through them by changing them to what they truly believe and can identify with. Clients also want reconciliation in their interpersonal relationships. This and many more goals, whatever

My first session with you

In our first session, I will introduce myself in person and give space for questions as needed. I share my philosophy of therapy. We go over the forms you completed, and I ask for other information as needed. We speak about what brought you into therapy and what were the events that led up to you being here today. We will also discuss what your expectations for therapy are and what you would like to obtain through our working together. If we both agree to work together, then we will schedule a follow-up appointment to begin working on a weekly or biweekly basis.
