Hi. My name is Darlene Obregon and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, 10481. I like to work with clients/couples/families on uncovering the roots of their presenting problems and help my clients find new ways of healing so that they can live a more fulfilling life.
My approach
As an Emotionally Focused Therapist, I believe that our past has an influence on who we are today, and faulty thinking or attachment styles that stem from our past, can share insight into the problems we have in the present. During our work, I like to help clients recognize their emotions and learn how to effectively communicate with others about their needs. While also learning regulation skills and ways to challenge negative thinking patterns. With couples, I help the couple understand their deeper needs and feelings that drive unhealthy relational dynamics.
My focus
I have worked with couples, children, adolescents, young adults, and families. I have experience working with several mental health disorders including but not limited to; depression, anxiety, PTSD, adjustment disorders, bipolar and ADHD. I have worked with clients on childhood traumas, sexual abuse, school issues, family issues, divorce, custody issues, work stress, and life-stage stressors. I have helped couples work through a variety of issues to help them rebuild a safe and emotional connection.
My communication style
Actively listening to my clients is something that is important to me. I want to create a space for you with no judgment, just understanding. What you have to say is meaningful and I am here to listen. While listening, I can pick up on subtleties on things you may have missed. I pay attention to themes and cycles to bring forth awareness and insight, so that you can make long-lasting changes.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was fascinated with psychology and the human mind. Which sparked my love for therapy and wanting to help people. It is such an honor to walk alongside people through some of the most difficult times in their life. It is something I do not take lightly. I love what I do and I am passionate about my work.
My goals for you
Setting a treatment goal is a collaborative approach. I strongly believe that my clients know what they want to work on, and we can work together on identifying your goal for therapy.
My first session with you
During our first session, I would like to learn about what present problems are impacting you. I want to learn how this problem has been impacting other areas of your life. We will discuss this problem in detail, while also uncovering patterns. We will identify the target goal and develop a plan on how to support you moving forward.
