Hi there, I'm Carmen!

Hello, My name is Carmen Siordia. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who is based in Salinas, California. I see clients statewide via telehealth or in person at my office. I believe everyone has the potential to create the life they deserve. I am passionate about helping others work through their difficulties, gain a greater understanding of themselves and find meaning in their life experiences.

My approach

In sessions, I use a client-centered, non-judgmental approach to help you feel safe and comfortable to share your experiences. I use various methods of therapy based on your needs and goals. Treatment methods I often use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness practices, and Motivational Interviewing. I also use a strength-based approach to explore your own unique qualities to help you realize and access your full potential.

My focus

I work with adults, couples, and teens. I have experience in working with various mental health issues including Depression, anxiety, PTSD, and difficulties related to trauma history, grief, substance abuse, and relationship problems. Often individuals I work with struggle with feelings of hopelessness, being overwhelmed, or being stuck in a situation. In my work, I can help you learn practical and effective ways to manage the difficulties you are experiencing.

My communication style

My communication style is through active and reflective listening so I can understand what you are experiencing and what changes you would like to see in your life. I provide a non-judgmental space to help you feel comfortable and safe in sharing your feelings and experiences.

My journey to mental healthcare

Through my personal life experiences, I have learned that sometimes we can face problems that are too difficult to work through on our own. I became a therapist because I wanted to help others not only work through difficulties but also explore ways to find meaning and growth from the challenges they've experienced. As I reflect on my own journey, I remember what I have learned from those who helped me. It is my hope that I may do the same for others.

My goals for you

I use a collaborative approach to help you create a plan that suits your needs. In working together, we would explore what changes you would like to see in your life and any current obstacles you may be experiencing to reach your goals. In therapy, I also aim to learn about your strengths so we may identify ways to use your strengths to create action steps towards your goals.

My first session with you

During our first session, we would spend some time getting to know each other and discussing current challenges you would like to address in therapy. We will also discuss confidentiality and what future sessions would look like so you would know what to expect. I will also share information on my professional background and welcome any questions you may have so you may feel comfortable and confident in working with me.
