Douglas Glen hails from Europe and moved to California in 1993. He gained his Master's in Counselling Psychology in Los Angeles in 2003 whilst working as a Technology Executive for a number of prominent media corporations in Europe and the US, including the BBC, Disney, and ABC. His varied professional life facilitated periods of living in Berlin Germany, London, Santa Barbara, and Boston.
My approach
Douglas prefers an integrative, person-centered approach and draws upon a number of modalities depending on a client's needs including CBT, Narrative, Existential, Psychodynamic, and Family Systems
My focus
Douglas credits his corporate career and life experience as providing invaluable perspective when working with professional clients that may be challenged with workplace anxiety, depression, and/or career development concerns.
My communication style
Douglas' regular client feedback often indicates he is a "good listener" and places a great emphasis on understanding and empathy. Douglas sees the therapeutic relationship as a collaboration but can if the client indicates it, be solution-focused and/or directive.
My journey to mental healthcare
A lifelong interest in Psychology and the human condition coupled with his personal examination of the transitions within the "journey of life" led to Douglas' eventual licensure as a Californian Psychotherapist.
My goals for you
After a transitional period of exploration and trust-building Douglas encourages the client to collaborate on identifying goals for Therapy and any desired outcome.
My first session with you
Introduction to "Informed Consent"; an outline of the "Therapeutic Frame" (what to expect in future sessions); a background and overview of who Douglas is and, hopefully, help form an idea of how comfortable and understood the client may feel in working with him.
