As a biracial, African American female psychologist who identifies with the world community, I provide comprehensive mental health services to individuals, couples, and families. I believe that mental maintenance is an essential component of life success. Using a client-centered approach, I strive to provide an environment that perpetuates authenticity, presence, and growth. One can expect a welcoming space, with options for evening and weekend appointments.
My approach
I used a client-centered approach, integrated with principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.
My focus
I tend to work with a diverse population of individuals who are aged 13 years and above that are navigating experiences of anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, and difficult life transitions.
My communication style
I see myself as the lady with a flashlight who has the honor of accompanying you on a part of your life journey. My role is to flash the light on things that may impact the path so that we can examine them together to determine their appropriateness for where you are headed.
My journey to mental healthcare
I knew I wanted to be a psychologist since the 2nd grade. I have always been fascinated by the impact of our experiences on the way we perceive and navigate our lives. I'm driven by the healing power of connection and communication. I strive to provide a space for personal learning, growth, and empowerment.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is also client-centered. I believe the goals are driven by the client and supported by the therapeutic process.
My first session with you
During the first session, the goal is to learn what brings a person to therapy and to establish an initial therapeutic alliance. I will simply ask, "what brings you here today?", and I will also give opportunities for any questions about what to expect moving forward.
