Hi there, I'm Sofia!

Welcome to my practice! My name is Sofia Nahavandi Gonzalez, and I'm a licensed psychotherapist with a unique cultural background that allows me to provide compassionate and comprehensive support, specializing in the treatment of addiction, codependency, and the recovery process. Having been born in Iran and raised in Spain, I have had the privilege of embracing both my Persian and Spanish heritage, granting me a deep appreciation for cultural diversity. Fluent in both Farsi and Spanish, I offer counseling services in both languages, creating a comfortable space for clients from these vibrant communities.

My approach

In my approach to counseling, I specialize in assisting individuals on their transformative journey toward sobriety and recovery, particularly those grappling with addiction and codependency. Fluent in both Farsi and Spanish, I am dedicated to providing counseling services in these languages, establishing a comfortable and welcoming space for clients from vibrant and diverse communities. Growing up in a multicultural environment has bestowed upon me invaluable insights into the challenges and triumphs individuals face while navigating different cultural worlds. Therefore, my counseling space is committed to offering a safe, empathetic, and inclusive atmosphere where clients can explore their unique experiences and cultural backgrounds without fear of judgment. Through collaborative goal setting, I work closely with clients to identify meaningful aspirations that align with their values and circumstances, empowering them to become active participants in their recovery journey. By blending empathy with clarity, I aim to inspire positive change and guide clients toward effective strategies that are sensitive to their cultural context. Together, we cultivate a warm and supportive environment that fosters personal growth, well-being, and lasting positive change on their path to recovery.

My focus

My typical clients are individuals who find themselves pondering the recovery process for addiction and codependency, seeking guidance and understanding. Additionally, I work closely with those who are motivated and prepared to embark on a transformative journey towards sobriety and recovery, actively taking steps to reclaim their lives and embrace positive change.

My communication style

I strive to cultivate a warm and supportive therapeutic environment where clients feel safe, understood, and empowered. Within this nurturing space, I also maintain a tone that is clear and direct when offering suggestions and recommendations. By combining empathy with clarity, I aim to facilitate growth, inspire positive change, and guide clients towards the most effective strategies for their recovery journey.

My goals for you

I approach goal setting as a collaborative and partnership-driven process. Together with my clients, we identify and establish meaningful goals that align with their values, aspirations, and unique circumstances. By fostering a collaborative approach, I aim to empower clients as active participants in their own recovery journey, healing process, ensuring that the goals we set are both inspiring and attainable.

My first session with you

In the first session, clients can expect a warm and supportive environment where their narratives are actively listened to. Through motivational interviewing, we explore their goals, willingness for change, and boundaries. By the end, clients receive clear recommendations and step-by-step guidance, setting them on a path of empowerment and direction.
