My name is Erin Gish-Stiles (they/she), and I'm a neurodivergent and queer therapist in California. A session might look like discussing and navigating trauma, taking a look at boundaries, assessing your relationship with yourself and self-esteem, or cultivating space for self-care and self-compassion. I provide therapy for Gender, Sexuality, and Relationship Diverse (GSRD) clients and neurodivergent adults who want to build healthier relationships with themselves and others.
My approach
I work from a trauma-informed, Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed approach and collaborate with my clients on exploring goals and intentions for their therapy journey.
My focus
I particularly enjoy working with people who are neurodivergent, healing from complex trauma, clients who are navigating work or life transitions, and folks exploring or navigating gender, sexuality, or diverse relationship structures.
My communication style
My clients tell me that I have a calming presence and that I'm great at holding space and offering the environment to permit kind exploration. I do not expect vulnerability in our work together, and I cherish the parts of my clients that they feel safe and comfortable enough to share with me. In therapy, clients are able to explore their experiences, reinterpret events, and reconstruct their narratives in order to create their own more empowering story that acknowledges their strength and resilience.
My journey to mental healthcare
My path to becoming a therapist grew out of my deep desire to help others live more fulfilling, authentic lives. Obtaining my MSW from Cal State Sacramento equipped me with the knowledge and clinical training to support clients in overcoming obstacles and creating positive change. I am committed to providing affirming, effective care.
My goals for you
My goal is to empower you to be your own narrator - to help you gain clarity on your story, reframe limiting narratives, and move toward the life you envision for yourself. Through our work together, I hope you will deepen your self-understanding, enhance your coping skills, and cultivate greater self-acceptance and joy.
My first session with you
In our first session, we will explore what brings you to therapy and what you hope to gain from the process. I will ask about your background, current struggles, and strengths, and begin getting to know your unique story. We will also discuss my approach and how we can best work together to support your goals. You will have space to ask any questions you may have as we collaboratively plan the direction of our work.
