Hello, My Name is Tony Resendiz and I am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist. My approach is focused on building rapport and finding steps to assist Clients in meeting their therapeutic goals. Furthermore, I provide deep psychoeducation on the therapy process and the time used in between sessions. My areas of practice are anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, and crisis prevention.
My approach
My theoretical orientation is Psychoanalytic but I also hold experience and use Cognitive Behavioral, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Short-Term Solution-focused, and integration of holistic approaches to therapy
My focus
I typically work with clients experiencing depressive symptoms (sadness, hopelessness/helplessness) anxiety (excessive worry) trouble adjusting to life changes.
My communication style
I like to create an environment in which Clients are able to express their needs and thoughts and work through the source of the problem. A place where Clients are able to understand the source of their Mental Health symptoms and develop the coping skills necessary for application when symptoms arise
My journey to mental healthcare
My current line of work allows me to work with Clients that are experiencing mental health crises and I enjoy working closely to develop the coping skills needed to develop short-term goals to return to their lives in the community. I enjoy the process of seeing the positive effects that therapy and having someone to talk to can have on a person. Furthermore, I enjoy the benefits gained from the psychoeducation provided to Clients by understanding a dualistic approach to medicine (if needed)
My goals for you
I like to develop a collaborative approach with goals that are measurable so the Client can see their progress and adjust the needed support along the way.
My first session with you
During the first session, Clients should expect to set their goals for therapy, be provided with psychoeducation on the benefits of certain therapeutic interventions, and use the time to develop rapport to ensure that the sessions will be beneficial for them.
