Hi there, I'm Jean!

Hello there! My name is Jean Sunwoo, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a deep commitment to supporting young to older adults with anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress. My therapeutic approach is holistic and eclectic, using Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Jungian psychology, with a person-centered and compassionate approach. I believe therapy should be tailored to your needs which leads to healing and lasting change.

My approach

My therapeutic approach is a personalized holistic framework that emphasizes cultural sensitivity and differs based on the client. We’ll explore what is important to your health, identity(s), and value system which can include physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, cultural, gender, and/or family issues. I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Jungian psychology in our therapeutic journey. Together, we'll explore your unique experiences and beliefs for healing and personal growth.

My focus

I work with young to older adults who are working through various life challenges. I specialize in treating conditions such as anxiety, stress, depression, and religious and/or spiritual trauma, and help individuals cope with significant life transitions. My goal is to provide a supportive and compassionate space for clients to find resilience and hope.

My communication style

In my therapy sessions, I cultivate a warm and calm environment where clients can feel safe, comfortable, and heard. Clients often describe the experience of working with me as genuine, empathic, hopeful, and collaborative. We work together to navigate challenges and find paths to personal growth.

My journey to mental healthcare

What attracted me to a career as a therapist is my deep passion for healing, coupled with the privilege of walking alongside individuals on their journeys. I am driven by the desire to reach people on a deeper level, to uncover hidden struggles without judgment, and to provide a safe space where they feel seen and heard. What fuels my dedication to this meaningful work is my natural inclination to help and empower others.

My goals for you

We'll work together to set achievable goals that feel right for you. These goals will be the roadmap for our journey while we track your ongoing progress and make changes if necessary. I’ll provide support and equip you with essential skills to create a voice and choices to empower you, and build resiliency, and strategies to reach your goals, all while being kinder to yourself.

My first session with you

During our first session, you can expect to feel warmth, heard, and an empathetic connection. We'll take the time to explore your thoughts and feelings while I provide a safe space of support for you to share openly. Together, we'll discuss your goals for therapy to help us determine the direction of our therapeutic journey.
