Joel Walton, Marriage & Family Therapist. My passion is providing you (the client) a safe place to tell your story. My goal, through our collaboration, is that you’ll be able to re-write your story in a way that brings new meaning to your difficulties – a new story that empowers rather than weakens. I find my industry too often over-diagnoses and medicates problems rather than helping people find strength in the midst of their storms.
My approach
I utilize CBT, Solutions Focused Brief Therapy, Reality Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Integrated Sex Therapy, Christian Counseling, and ACT.
My focus
Research has shown that the key to successful counseling is finding that person you can connect with. You need someone who understands and relates to your individual struggles and is able to empathize with you, while at the same time can challenge and encourage you to find your solutions that will move you from where you’re at to where you want to be.
My communication style
Warm approachable and without judgment - Open and authentic with a strong desire to understand while also challenge clients to find their own personal power to move forward to the life they want to live.
My journey to mental healthcare
I've always enjoyed working with people and helping them live the life they want. I started my journey to become therapy as second career after working years in law enforcement, private industry, and in ministry.
My goals for you
After the intake I work to find out where your at and together set realistic goals that are measurable and obtainable.
My first session with you
I want to get to know you and better understand where you're at and find out what's keeping you from getting to where you want to be in life!
