My name is Jessica Marroquin and I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am specialized in working with all ages from children as young as 5 to older adults. I take a client-centered approach in creating a safe enjoyable place where we can work together on developing new skills to tackle ways to improve your overall life functioning.
My approach
I take an eclectic approach to treating clients to best meet their needs. I enjoy utilizing art, play and talk therapies. With children and families, I enjoy focusing on building the attachment between child and caregiver while also building on communication skills. With teens and adults, I utilize talk, trauma-focused, CBT, and strength-based therapy approaches to assist clients in discovering and overcoming the barriers necessary to bring about positive, permanent changes in improving the quality of their lives.
My focus
I work with a variety of clients ranging from ages 0 to older adults. I am seasoned in working with young children, and families and feel comfortable with conducting individual and family sessions.
My communication style
I enjoy creating a strong rapport with clients to create a safe and comfortable environment. Whether it be your first time in therapy or your 5th time I strive to make the client feel safe in taking charge of treatment goals and what they are here to work on.
My journey to mental healthcare
Since a young age, I always had a passion for caring for others. I started my journey caring for young children and supporting low-income families through my child development background. It was after receiving my bachelor's degree and landing my first job as a childcare teacher did I find myself wanting to do more for individuals. While exploring other career ventures that would fuel this desire I found the Marriage and Family Therapist program at Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, CA. It was there in the program that I learned and developed a foundation to support more individuals in the community and solidified my role and passion in becoming a therapist.
My goals for you
In collaboration with the therapist, the client will verbalize their desires for self-improvement and create goals for treatment. As a therapist, I like to visit goals frequently to ensure the client and therapist are continuing to work on client's needs.
My first session with you
During the first session, the client should expect to be greeted with warmth and comfort. The therapist will create a safe foundation to share and ask questions to ensure the client and therapist have seemed goals for the therapeutic journey.
