My name is Ans Martinez and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Los Angeles, California. I have been providing outpatient mental health treatment to young adults for many years. My expertise includes anxiety, ADHD, adjustment, depression, parenting, substance use and addiction, trauma, and other behavioral and developmental challenges impacting adolescents and young adults. I also have extensive experience working and providing LGBTQ+ affirmative psychotherapy and trauma-informed care to other underrepresented communities.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is tailored specifically to fit each client's needs. Although I operate from a Person-Centered Humanistic approach, I am trained in evidenced based practices including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
My focus
My goal is to help clients by holding a non-judgmental space to navigate life's difficulties. Over the years I discovered my style and approach is a good fit for young adults ages 18-40 dealing and adjusting to different life transitions.
My communication style
The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important aspects of therapy. My goal is to create a compassionate and judgment-free space for you to explore and process past experiences, find purpose and meaning, and develop a deeper understanding of who you are.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is working collaboratively and setting realistic and measurable goals based on the client's needs. Revisiting goals and tracking progress throughout the course of treatment is also important in therapy.
My first session with you
We will spend the first session laying the foundation for a strong therapeutic relationship. I will ask questions about your history, symptoms, functional impairments, and expectations in treatment. You will also have the opportunity to ask me questions about my training, areas of expertise, and journey to becoming a therapist.
