Hello. My name is Rosangela Dardon. I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of California.
My approach
In my work as a psychotherapist I encourage a person-centered approach meaning meeting a client where they are and helping identify areas they would like to explore. This person centered approach allows me to use a blend of modalities tailored to each individual’s goals. I integrate use of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused, and attachment theories and often incorporate relaxation and mindfulness techniques. I have experience working across all ages and with diverse communities. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) and am culturally informed to support my clients to develop tools and insight they can use towards managing individual challenges. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and welcome and enjoy working with members of all communities and backgrounds.
My focus
I work with individual adults. I have experience working with a variety of mental/emotional health concerns including anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma-related difficulties, racial trauma, LGBTQI concerns, life transitions, grief and relationship challenges.
My communication style
I believe every individual is deserving of an unbiased, safe, and meaningful space to process their unique experiences. I hold a commitment to using therapy as an anti-oppressive space where you can understand and manage the impact of intersectionality including race, class, gender, sexism, ableism, and other forms of systemic oppression. I incorporate structure into sessions but have the needed flexibility to collaborate with clients to allow them to feel seen and heard. I also periodically check in to ensure we are on the right track towards meeting desired goals. I like to provide honesty, structure and challenge clients when needed and appropriate for personal growth toward achieving treatment goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
Prior to becoming a psychotherapist I received a degree in Fine Art Photography and Women, Gender and Sexuality studies and worked as an educator and project manager in the non-profit sector. I initially arrived at psychotherapy in the process of my own journey of discovery and healing. As an individual who has moved through a diverse personal, education and professional path I have developed an understanding of how to connect, communicate, and understand people from diverse backgrounds. I am passionate about supporting others in their life journey through a compassionate, culturally-informed lens.
My goals for you
I believe you are the expert on your life and through this lens, our time together will focus on working collaboratively to approach and achieve your goals.
My first session with you
In our first meeting you can expect I will aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space for discovery in order to establish a healthy therapeutic relationship.
