Hi there, I'm Elkhansa!

My name is Neza (El Khansa) Kaicer and I am a Licensed Marriage and family therapist (LMFT) based in Los Angeles, California, and working with clients statewide via telehealth. With warmth, grounded humor & cultural awareness, I work with adults and specialize in depression, anxiety, addiction, and self-sabotage. I integrate evidence-based practices rooted in neuroscience, positive psychology, brain development, mindfulness, and Cognitive behavioral therapy to address a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stressful/traumatic experiences, and relationship difficulties to help my clients tap into their potential, and start getting the life they want and deserve.

My approach

My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, positive psychology, and neuroscience. My approach is to create with you realistic, attainable solutions and help you identify the roadmap to achieve them. My goal with every client is to help them better understand how to use their brain to their advantage, remove their mental obstacles to success, and overcome their self-sabotage.

My focus

My style and approach are a good fit for adults who feel “stuck” in their life and are … I also help clients with life transitions, work stress, and relationship difficulties. I work to help my clients navigate these transition periods and to build skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life.

My communication style

As a therapist, I strive to cultivate a warm, supportive presence and environment for my clients to feel safe discussing challenging topics and having hard conversations. I value building strong partnerships with clients and promoting a collaborative and respectful client-therapist relationship.

My journey to mental healthcare

After a Ph.D. in Biology and 20 years of career in scientific research in Paris, Montreal, and at UCLA. I decided to go back to school to become a therapist because I have always wanted to listen to others and help them. I am familiar with the pain, fear, shame, and loneliness that go with never feeling good enough. This is the reason I came to my call and destination which is helping people find their way to a fulfilling life. I like helping clients stop self-sabotage to overcome doubts, stop procrastination, and boost confidence so they become the best version of themselves.

My goals for you

In setting goals with my clients, the process is collaborative from the outset, focusing on identifying your objectives during our sessions. Establishing trust and ensuring you feel at ease in the therapeutic environment is our initial step. As we progress, we will jointly establish goals and monitor your advancement.

My first session with you

In our initial session, we'll primarily focus on discussing your recent emotional state, with me asking questions to gain a deeper understanding of the possible reasons behind your feelings. This first meeting is crucial for establishing a foundational bond and allows me to determine our next steps. Recognizing that everyone is unique, I prioritize listening to you thoroughly before making any assumptions about the most effective approach for your journey ahead.
