Hi there, I'm Preston!

My name is Preston Herdt and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. My approach is client-centered, and I tailor my therapeutic techniques to best fit the needs of each client. I believe in creating a safe and supportive environment for my clients to explore their thoughts and emotions and work towards their personal goals.

My approach

As a dedicated Psychotherapist, I utilize EMDR and Emotionally Focused Therapy to support my clients in achieving their goals. My approach is compassionate, client-centered, and tailored to your unique needs. You can count on me to help as we work towards a healthier and more fulfilling lifestyle.

My focus

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship issues, I am here to help you navigate life’s challenges and stresses.

My communication style

My approach is compassionate, client-centered, and tailored to your unique needs. I grew up in a small town where I gained experience working in Law Enforcement where the emphasis was on genuine relationships with others, being dedicated to helping others, and to showing a high level of respect for everyone.

My journey to mental healthcare

Growing up, I knew I wanted to help people and make a difference in people's lives in which I started out in Law Enforcement, learned the challenges of being a first responder, and felt that I wanted to make a difference in people's lives in a different way. I wanted to have the opportunity to have a long-term difference in others' lives and I was not sure what profession that meant at first. When getting married, my wife told me that we have to do premarital therapist and I was absolutely against talking with a random person about personal challenges because that is not what my family did and one requirement I had for us was that the therapist had to be a male. Based on my experience working with that therapist throughout premarital therapy, he showed me compassion, respect, and a different level of care that I wanted to be able to provide for others. That is where I found the opportunity to work with youth as a therapist and try to make a difference in their lives as a secure person, that will show them respect, and can make a difference in their lives, among helping others.

My goals for you

We will work together to create realistic and achievable goals so that you can clearly know that you are making progress, and can feel a sense of confidence in knowing that the goals we set are not unrealistic or too far out of reach.

My first session with you

During the first session, I want us to get to know one another and start building a trusting relationship. We will go through many questions in order for me to get a bigger picture of your history, challenges, relationships/supports, and how you currently are managing your stress and challenges. I also want to know your strengths and interests as well.
