Hello, I am Allison Chase. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with a decade of experience working with individuals and couples. My areas of focus are infertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and adjusting to parenthood. I also have experience in and enjoy helping clients struggling with life transitions, anxiety, and depression.
My approach
In my work with clients, I provide new perspectives, challenge unhelpful thinking patterns and help clients develop coping skills to help overcome challenges. I believe feeling validated, understood, and seen are important to healing and growth. I commonly use Supportive and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with clients. My approach to therapy is tailored to the individuals presenting problems and goals for therapy.
My focus
My areas of focus are infertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and adjusting to parenthood. I also have experience in and enjoy helping clients struggling with life transitions, anxiety, and depression.
My communication style
My approach is warm and compassionate. I strive to create a safe space for clients to better understand their thoughts, feelings, and behavior. In a supportive environment, I guide clients to uncover new perspectives and challenge unhelpful ways of thinking as well as teach tangible coping skills. Together I hope to help clients get unstuck and move toward the life they want.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been drawn to helping professions. I find working with clients and helping them on their journey toward the life they want to have is the most rewarding work I could imagine.
My goals for you
One of the questions I ask during an initial session with clients is what they would like to achieve with therapy. Identifying specific goals for each therapy episode gives our work together a direction to move toward and helps maintain therapeutic focus. I believe goals should be identified by the client, however, if clients feel stuck I can help guide them in goal setting.
My first session with you
During the first session, we will go over any questions clients may have on informed consent, policies, etc. I will give the client time to share what brings them in for therapy, we will discuss therapeutic goals, and how we may reach those goals together. I will ask the client if they have any questions for me about how we will work together. I leave room toward the end of the session to collaboratively discuss with the client if we both feel working together is a good fit for the clients' individual needs and goals.
