My name is Carla Hix, PsyD. I am a clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience providing psychotherapy. I view therapy as a vital piece of self-care; where one can obtain support, understanding, and engage in effective problem-solving.
My approach
My therapeutic orientation is grounded in solution-focused methods and cognitive-behavioral theory. I utilize evidence-based practices to help decrease distress and move towards goals. My practice seeks to build on one's strengths in a warm, empathic, and validating environment.
My focus
I specialize in individual therapy with adults. I enjoy working through life’s passages with transitional-age young adults, working through mid-life issues, and working with seniors.
My communication style
I have a warm, accepting, and collaborative style. Therapy is a collaboration where goals and plans are developed together. Milestones and outcomes are reviewed together. And growth and success are celebrated!
My goals for you
Clients are guided through the process of generating measurable goals. Measurable goals bring focus, feelings of control, and are a key to tracking change.
My first session with you
I'll be asking a lot of questions during our initial session. The session is used to gather important information about your primary concerns(s) and history. The information gathered will be used to collaboratively generate goals for our work together.
