Hello, My name is LaVonne Renno and I am a LPCC. In my sessions, you will find a combination of ACT therapy, Reality therapy, mindfulness, and Insight. I believe that through these processes, we are able to delve into the issues and work on changing practices and thoughts in order to cope with and decrease symptoms.
My approach
I create a safe and approachable space where we are able to, through our time, learn coping skills that allow the client to effectively handle their symptoms and, in the term, decrease them. We also look at the root of where the problem exists in order to have a better understanding of why they are struggling.
My focus
I look at clients typically who are struggling with communication issues, anxiety, depression, low sense of self, or struggling with job satisfaction. I typically work with young adults to those in middle age.
My communication style
I am very calm and engaging in my therapy. I like to create a feeling in our conversation that allows for questions to engage the client into deeper thought about events and feelings that they are expressing in order for them to delve into new mindsets and create new thinking patterns for themselves.
My journey to mental healthcare
I started out as a teacher, and seeing the need that my students had propelled me into returning to school for counseling. As I took school counseling classes, I found myself drawn to the more clinical and treatment side. I decided that I wanted to more purpose and skills than what I had and continued taking both classes. Now I enjoy the clinical side of counseling as being able to help others see issues from a new mindset and help them reduce their daily struggles. I always feel very honored when someone allows me to be inside their struggles and trust the space to work on what they are going through.
My goals for you
I work with the client to create goals that are meaning and relevant to their needs and that it is something that they will be successful in.
My first session with you
During our sessions, I like to work on getting to know the client and letting them get to know me. I want them to get a feel for the therapy process and make sure that the space is what fits their needs. We go over policies and what to expect during therapy.
