Hi! My name is Cylystina Nevel and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I use many different modalities and techniques during therapy to fit each unique person. I look forward to meeting you!
My approach
I use primarily cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, solution focused, narrative, trauma informed and a little of everything else.
My focus
I have worked with children from 5-18 who have experienced suicidal ideation and attempts and have been hospitalized. I have worked with children aged 5-18 who have severe behaviors. I have also worked with the incarcerated adult population. As well as, adults with severe mental illness and psychosis. Lastly, I have worked with adults who experience PTSD, depression, anxiety, OCD, grief, infidelity, stress, marital/relationship concerns, problem resolution, and many more.
My communication style
I make sure that the client feels comfortable talking to me and we spend some time building rapport. Clients will talk about difficult topics and the environment is calming to invite clients to be open and honest.
My journey to mental healthcare
In high school, I had a friend who was suicidal and self-harming. I supported her through these times and as I watched her symptoms decrease over time I knew that this is what I wanted to do. I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy and I enjoy helping people along their path.
My goals for you
I speak about goal setting in the first session. We collaboratively create a couple of goals and then work towards achieving them. I will occasionally do a retrospection and check-in to remind clients how far they have come and to encourage them to keep going with their mental health recovery.
My first session with you
During an initial session, we will review paperwork that was signed, complete a comprehensive assessment, create goals, and schedule sessions.
