As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, I am committed to helping individuals, couples, families and groups achieve mental health and wellness. With over a decade of clinical experience across various settings including outpatient substance abuse treatment, community mental health, nonprofit organizations and private practice, I bring a wealth of expertise to support my clients on their journeys.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is collaborative, working in partnership with clients to develop treatment goals and continuously assess progress. I draw upon a range of modalities including Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, relaxation techniques, mindfulness, psychoeducational, and behavior modification. Embracing a holistic perspective, I consider all aspects of a client's life that impact their well-being, such as physical health, support systems, work/school environment, and spirituality.
My focus
I specialize in treating depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, child/adolescent issues, complicated grief, anger management, stress, trauma, abuse, couples' conflicts, dual diagnosis (mental health and substance abuse), and self-esteem issues. I work with individuals, couples, families, minors (ages 13-17) and facilitate group therapy.
My communication style
You can expect me to be a supportive and engaged partner in your therapeutic process. I believe in utilizing your strengths and willingness to face challenges to help you achieve your goals. Through active listening, empathy, and collaborative problem-solving, we will work together to maximize your potential and improve your mental health.
My journey to mental healthcare
My path to becoming a therapist began with earning my master's degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy from the University of Phoenix in 2010. I went on to gain extensive clinical experience at Loved Ones Victims Services from February 2010 to March 2011, and at HarborView Community Services Center from November 2011 to October 2014. Over the years, I have also facilitated anger management and grief counseling groups, and provided supervision to associate social work and marriage and family therapy interns.
My goals for you
My ultimate goal is to empower you with the insights, coping strategies, and emotional tools to face life's challenges with resilience and self-awareness. Whether addressing current struggles or healing from past trauma, I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard, validated, and supported on your journey of growth and transformation.
My first session with you
During our initial session, we will discuss what brings you to therapy and begin to get to know each other. I will ask about your background, current situation, challenges, and goals. This is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions and determine if I am the right fit as your therapist. Together, we will start to develop a plan for your treatment, always ensuring the process feels comfortable and collaborative.
