Daniel Terry, Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Military Veteran, former first responder in both Fire and Police. I hope to bring education, training, and life experiences together to help others.
My approach
I prefer to utilize the Client-Centered Approach as the client knows themself best. This is supported with Motivational Interviewing as well as a Strength-Based focus.
My focus
I have worked with clients affected by the most traumatic of life events all the way to clients working to adjust to more common life changes.
My communication style
I work in a conversational style engaging the client and allowing them to express themselves and to explore their feelings and ideas. I try to create a relaxed environment with good rapport between therapist and client.
My journey to mental healthcare
I first became interested in becoming an LCSW while working at a state hospital in a non-therapeutic position. I became interested in the patients' histories, the circumstances leading up to their hospitalization. I perceived a pattern of incidents over a person's lifetime affecting their present. I was interested in clinical social work due to its view of the whole person, the BioPsychoSocialSpiritual view. I am a therapist to help people, to help the person resolve their issues before they can continue increasing their effects on a person over time.
My goals for you
The client knows themself best. Only the client can identify their needs and concerns. The therapist can assist them in formulating them into specific and achievable goals.
My first session with you
An introduction session with a review of the client's concerns and to begin determining the focus for future sessions.
