Hi I am Dani Gilardi, LMFT #110814. I specialize in working with teenagers (13+), adults, and families. I am also passionate about working with the LGBTQ+ community and am a gender-affirming therapist.
My approach
The base of my approach is to be person-centered in order to support the individual or family I am working with. From there I will draw from various theoretical orientations, including evidence based modalities, in order to provide interventions that are the correct fit for you.
My focus
I have worked with a range of needs including anxiety, anger management, depression, grief, general life satisfaction, LGBTQ+-related concerns, school or work problems, and interpersonal dynamics between families and non-family members.
My communication style
I believe that therapy is not “one size fits all,” and for this reason, sessions and interventions are personalized to the individual and/or family. I strive to create a warm and safe environment for people to explore self-identity, personal development, relational dynamics, process trauma, and create solutions in order to support people in living the life they want and deserve.
My journey to mental healthcare
I believe that all people can use added support at times in our lives. My journey started as a teenager when I worked with a therapist that helped to support my growth. From there decided that this is the field I would like a profession in.
My goals for you
Typically I will ask the client to look forward 2-3 months and think of what they would like to have be different. Once we have discussed general ideas, I think it can be useful to make them quantifiable, if possible in order to help people measure the progress when we reflect on the goals.
My first session with you
The first session is different that general sessions that there is some necessary paperwork to complete. I will review some forms and information. There is also an assessment that needs to be done, this helps to get to know the client and what their concerns and strengths are. It is also important in this session to build rapport and allow the client to see whether or not they feel this is a good fit for them.
