My approach
My therapeutic approach is client-centered and integrative, tailored to address specific needs. I commonly use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety and depression, Grief Counseling for grief and loss, and a client-centered approach for personal growth and self-esteem. Trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are addressed through Trauma-Focused Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Mindfulness-based techniques are integrated to enhance emotional regulation and stress management. The goal is to provide comprehensive and personalized support for clients across various mental health challenges.
My focus
My treatment experience includes at-risk youth, adolescents, teens, adults, and young adults, as well as the geriatric population facing cognitive decline. Over the years, I have helped individuals deal with everything from cultural stressors, life transitions, addiction, and anger and stress management issues to family and interpersonal relationship challenges. My clinical training and mentoring counselors in different regions of Uganda afforded me the opportunity to pursue a mindfulness-based EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) certification.
My communication style
I communicate with clarity and professionalism, adapting to clients' preferences. My style is empathetic, knowledgeable, and engaging, while always respecting privacy. Working with me feels like having a supportive, knowledgeable, and adaptable resource to assist with information, guidance, and solutions.
My journey to mental healthcare
I began my career at Opica Adult Day Center, Fuller Psychological Family Services, and Sycamores Child Family Services where I gained experience in educational, clinical, and private practice settings. Additionally, I have a unique background as a former realtor with 10 years of experience in the industry. Through my journey, I've accumulated a diverse range of skills that have been invaluable in my work as a counselor.
My goals for you
I approach goal setting with clients through a structured and collaborative process. This involves assessing their current situation, clarifying and prioritizing their goals, breaking them down into actionable steps, and creating a detailed action plan with clear timelines. I emphasize monitoring progress, adapting as needed, celebrating achievements, and fostering a sense of accountability. Ultimately, my goal-setting approach is client-centered and aims to empower individuals to achieve their objectives with guidance and support.
