Hi there, I'm Jennifer!

My name is Jennifer Neito, and I am License Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Sacramento, California, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with individual adults and specialize in anxiety, depression, eating disorders, stress management, relationship issues, grief, life transitions, and personal growth.

My approach

My approach to therapy varies on the needs of each of my clients. I mostly use Psychodynamic, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Person-Centered. These modalities help me understand clients' needs and their lived experiences, build a healthy relationships, and provide the necessary tools to move clients closer to their ideal life.

My focus

I found that my style of therapy and approach is a good fit for adults going through life transitions or situations that have created confusion and a loss of direction in their life. This often takes the form of depression, anxiety, grief, eating disorders, or existential life crisis. I work to help clients understand how to navigate this transition by building skills, finding meaning and understanding about themselves, and living an authentic life they can feel good about.

My communication style

My communication style is calm, accommodating, and focused. I want my clients to feel seen and heard. I strive to create an environment my clients can feel safe to share because they know someone is listening without judgment.

My journey to mental healthcare

I decided to become a therapist because I enjoy witnessing people evolve into the best versions of themselves through self-discovery. It's a privilege to witness clients have those "ah-ha" moments and see their self-confidence grow and their lives change. I worked in different mental health settings and found that working 1:1 with individual clients is my passion.

My goals for you

My approach to goal setting is learning what brings you into therapy, what you would like to change in your life, understanding what change looks like to you, and collaboratively setting goals to track and monitor your progress. Each individual is different, and sometimes goals are set during the first session but no later than the third session.

My first session with you

What you can expect from our first session together is to have a conversation about what brings you into therapy. I will emphatically hold space for you while I will ask questions to gain a deeper understanding and take notes while listening. The first session is about getting to know each other, building a connection, and getting a sense of where we should go after our initial session.
