Hello! I'm Kristen Springsteen, a licensed marriage and family therapist. Have you done therapy before, or perhaps invested in your own self-work and realized that you've come to a point where you don't know how to work through your remaining goals? My focus is to provide innovative approaches to help you continue your growth because we all deserve to live our best life.
My approach
The therapeutic approach that has resonated strongly with me over the past 2 years is Brainspotting therapy. This modality is a trauma processing therapy that can help with a wide range of issues to promote healing and growth. As a certified Brainspotting practitioner, I often integrate this with other mindfulness practices, including energy work. I also use CBT, DBT, and SFT.
My focus
The conditions I often treat are due to trauma and life disruptions, commonly associated with PTSD and adjustment disorders. The motivated clients I work with typically reach a stagnant point in their healing journey. They are usually LOGICALLY aware of what's going on and may already have decent management skills. The problem is they're still impacted by the FEELING created by traumas, like triggers, reactivity, and automatic responses.
My communication style
I like to provide a calm, safe, connected, and caring environment for my clients. My goal is to provide a healing space that radiates good energy and leaves clients feeling full.
My journey to mental healthcare
My reiki practitioner couldn't have answered this question better. She said, "Therapists often become what they never had growing up." I've been drawn to this field and trauma work because I am no exception to trauma. It is my goal as a therapist to provide and pass on these healing practices that have so helped transform my own life. I'm forever a therapist and student of healing.
My goals for you
All goals follow one big rule; I will always meet you where you're at. I balance holding clients accountable to their goals with always reading the space and being attuned to what a client needs from session to session.
My first session with you
I work on building therapeutic connections and creating a safe/calm space. I'll commonly discuss perspective-shifting education on what trauma is, how trauma manifests, why symptoms occur, neuroscience, and more. Going more in-depth in this area sets the stage for healing. When a client is ready to work through their trauma using Brainspotting therapy, I will provide education on what to expect and self-care techniques.
