Hi there, I'm Margaret!

I have 20 years of clinical experience working with people from all walks of life, at different ages and stages of life. I have considerable experience working with anxiety, panic, disordered eating, and body image disturbance. I am also a registered art therapist.

My approach

I work with my clients to find an approach that is best suited for them. I incorporate different approaches into my work: CBT, psychodynamic, supportive, and grief therapy. I do talk therapy and/or art therapy.

My focus

Although I consider myself to be a generalist practitioner, there are some areas I have additional experience and/or education: anxiety, panic, depression, disordered eating, body image disturbance, and grief. I enjoy working with individuals and couples.

My communication style

I feel that it is very important for my clients to feel they are in a safe place where they can open up about anything affecting their lives. The foundation is set by building a positive therapeutic relationship. I am a therapist who listens carefully and provides feedback if invited to do so.

My journey to mental healthcare

I began my journey to become a therapist when I turned 30 years old. I had been doing volunteer work as an artist working with underserved communities and I felt that becoming a therapist/art therapist would enrich the work I was doing. I continue to be inspired and motivated by the healing that occurs in the therapeutic process.

My goals for you

I discuss goals with my clients at each session; we explore progress and/or challenges. During the course of therapy, clients may identify new goals which are incorporated into treatment. I feel it is very important for my clients to have a voice when exploring therapeutic goals.

My first session with you

Clients are encouraged to ask any questions they may have about the therapeutic process. They are invited to share any personal history or background information as we explore how relationships and life experiences may affect the current situation. We begin to explore coping strategies at the first session, particularly when addressing any symptoms causing distress.
