My name is Bathseba Abraham and I am a licensed clinical social worker who is very invested in my work and love the job of helping people take control of their mental health. I love motivational interviewing as well as goal setting and I feel both a vital to psychological stability.
My approach
I always start where the client is at and use a person centered approach. I use cognitive behavioral therapy and believe that mindfulness, psychotherapy and learning how to challenge maladaptive thoughts have the ability to change ones schema and how a person responds to things.
My focus
I work with populations that battle with anxiety, depression, self doubt and individuals that don't understand why they think a certain way.
My communication style
I love to make my clients feel comfortable when we meet. There is no structure, I want the conversation to flow naturally while I guide the client to open up and search for a deeper meaning. I believe in the empowerment model and love to help people reframe their thinking.
My journey to mental healthcare
While growing up I always struggled with controling how I was feeling and reacted to exterior things. I believe that perspective and self narrative are major contributing factors to how a person lives and feels and would love to help people take control of these things.
My goals for you
I will help individuals develop SMART goals. Specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time sensitive goals. I believe setting this goal in the first session helps us move forward with a purpose
My first session with you
First session will involve warm introductions and goal setting. I want to get to know my clients and hear about their motivations.
