As a therapist, I work with adults and adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, and the challenges of transitioning out of unhealthy relationships. My aim is to empower individuals, especially women, to build assertive communication skills and gain insight into how family of origin and past experiences shape current relationship patterns.
My approach
I believe that empathy and the ability to relate to clients are crucial components of an effective therapeutic environment. Drawing from my own hardships, I understand the immense value of having a trusting therapeutic relationship in which one can safely explore feelings and seek redirection towards new opportunities for growth and healing.
My focus
I specialize in working with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents aged 13-17. My areas of focus include ADHD, anger management, anxiety, bipolar disorder, career counseling, behavioral issues, coping skills, depression, divorce, codependency, family conflict, dual diagnosis, grief, infidelity, LGBTQIA+ issues, life transitions, OCD, parenting, relationship issues, school issues, stress, women's issues, and transgender issues.
My communication style
My therapeutic approach incorporates elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based techniques. I strive to create a culturally sensitive, inclusive space that honors each client's unique background and identity. When working with couples, I draw from Imago relationship therapy and family systems perspectives to help partners enhance communication, deepen connection, and navigate co-parenting challenges.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey in the mental health field began with my graduate studies at Georgia State University from 1999 to 2001. I then gained invaluable clinical experience working within the Fulton County School system from 2001 to 2004. These formative experiences solidified my commitment to helping others navigate life's challenges and inspired me to establish my private practice.
My goals for you
My primary goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, validated, and empowered to make meaningful changes in your life. Together, we will work to identify and challenge limiting beliefs, build resilience, and develop practical strategies to help you navigate life's obstacles with greater ease and confidence. I am dedicated to walking alongside you on your journey towards greater self-awareness, emotional well-being, and fulfilling relationships.
My first session with you
During our first session, we will take time to discuss what brings you to therapy and explore your unique goals and concerns. This is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. I will ask questions to better understand your background, experiences, and current challenges, while also inviting you to ask any questions you may have about the therapy process. Together, we will collaboratively develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and aspirations.
