Hi there, I'm Melissa!

Aloha and Welcome. My name is Melissa Stevens, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Mental Health counselor based in Hawaii. I also hold a certificate as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor. My approach focuses on the individual, the strengths of the individual, and their goals. Together, we will work collaboratively and learn how to navigate and work through the struggles you have encountered in order to heal, gain strength, and move towards a healthier future. This provider resides in Hawaii.

My approach

My approach to therapy varies based on the individual needs of the client. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, client-centered therapy, and solution-focused therapy.

My focus

I have found my style and approach are a good fit for young adults who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions, relationship issues, communication, substance abuse, and struggles with their mental health. I will provide support, focus on calming techniques, coping skills, and new thinking, and foster growth by empowerment.

My communication style

My communication style is personable and focuses on building trust.

My goals for you

My approach to goal setting with clients is all about working together to define what you want to accomplish in our time together. This often starts by building trust between us, and getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy. Over time, we’ll work together to set goals and track your progress. Whether you have short-term or long-term goals or just need the help to get through a unique challenge.

My first session with you

What you can expect from our first session is creating a safe place. Each individual is different so I like to start by getting to know you, listening, and seeing if we are the right fit to go on this journey together.
