Hello there. My name is Stephanie Phan and I am a licensed clinical psychologist/neuropsychologist. My approach to therapy is collaborative, holistic, and based on evidence-based practices. My training in neuropsychology allows me to understand the relationship between the brain and behavior, and how that affects our daily functioning. This provider resides in Hawaii.
My approach
My approach to therapy incorporates mindfulness and cognitive behavioral and acceptance and commitment techniques. During sessions, we explore different exercises and strategies that can be implemented outside of the session.
My focus
I work with adults (18+) and older adults to address varying concerns from job stress, school stress, familial discord, anxiety, depression, grief, chronic pain, traumatic brain injury, and/or illness.
My communication style
Sharing a space with me in session is a safe, open, and unbiased environment. We go at a pace that is comfortable for you and I am flexible in either leading conversations or taking on an active listening role.
My journey to mental healthcare
I entered the field of psychology to bridge a gap between my community and mental health needs. I have found that I am passionate about serving underserved communities and believe that therapy is one way for me to contribute.
My goals for you
Goal setting is discussed early on-typically in the first or second session. It is part of getting to know and understand the needs of each person that walks into the room. Sometimes, individuals may not have goals in mind, and that is okay too because we sort through the details as the sessions progress.
My first session with you
The first session is really an introductory session where we explore what has brought someone into therapy, past experiences, goals/hopes for therapy, and more.
