My name is Rio Riojas and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. I have experience in providing mental health services to a broad age range from school-aged children, teens, adults, and the elderly. I specialize in guiding clients in managing anxiety, depression, life changes, and stress by helping clients process their emotions and develop healthy coping skills.
My approach
A person-centered approach combined with a trauma-informed care approach is what drives my practice. In addition, I utilize a strengths-based approach along with components of cognitive behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused interventions.
My focus
My style and therapeutic approaches are best suited for young adults and adults who may be facing challenges managing emotions and/or experiencing work/life stressors.
My communication style
I believe that people are the experts of their lives and my role as a therapist is to actively listen to them and help guide them in an empathetic, nonjudgemental, and calm manner.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been drawn to helping people through their most challenging times. From lending a listening ear to guiding friends, family, colleagues, and clients I have always been drawn to helping people out. Helping people out through their most difficult times is what drives my work.
My goals for you
To get the most out of sessions, goal setting is completed with the client’s input with their concerns as a guide. My role as a therapist is to help clients define their goals and assist them in creating a plan to reach them. In addition, it is my role to assist clients in adjusting goals as needed.
My first session with you
Our first session will serve as an opportunity for you and me to get to know each other and lay the groundwork for a therapeutic relationship. We will explore your reasons for seeking therapy along with your concerns, challenges, and goals. We will begin to explore relevant aspects of your personal history, including family background, relationships, and significant life events.
