Hi! My name is Kristi Kaapu and I am an LCSW. My focus areas of practice are anxiety, depression, school/work issues, interpersonal difficulties, and trauma. This provider resides in Hawaii.
My approach
When I first meet with my clients, I emphasize that I am providing them with a safe, non-judgmental space for our work together and then listen carefully to my client's concerns. Once I understand their concerns, I carefully tailor my approach to his or her needs. Modalities I often utilize are a strengths-based approach with talk therapy, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and solution-based therapy. I strive to create a trusting relationship with my clients, so they feel comfortable discussing specific problems, whether big or small.
My focus
I have worked with clients of all ages, from youth to older adults, but more recently, my work has been primarily with adults. I enjoy working with adults from all ethnicities and cultures, from all sexual orientations, and from all religious, spiritual, and non-religious perspectives.
My communication style
My approach is to set a tone/environment that is safe, warm, and conversational. I meet my clients where they are and work in partnership with them to achieve their goals.
